Mobile Advertising?

I have just read an interesting blog post about Mobile Advertising stating that mobile users are more likely to accept advertising in their phones and PDA's. "Mobile web users are 60 percent more likely than data users to be open to mobile advertising, according to a report (pdf) from Nielsen Mobile - via MarketingCharts", I read.
The report refers to US data mainly but the chart that caught my attention was this one:
It defines the top reasons why people use mobile internet: to browse portals, to find about the weather and to read news, while on-the-go.
It's interesting because it refers exactly to the same practices that people develop while on their computers. So there are similarities in the way in which we use a computer and a mobile device.
Google Search and The Weather Channel are the next
most popular mobile websites. Each month, 9 million
mobile subscribers access Google Search, and 9 million
mobile subscribers access The Weather Channel over their
mobile phones.
3G is Key! the report states that 3G netweoks (only available in very upscale devices in Latam....until now) can improve data transfer by about 6 times compared with 2G.
It's interesting to compare this figures and to try to compare what could be the next big marketing web in Latin America: online marketing.
If this numbers, data and information could be compare to what people in Latam will do, portals, website, email services and news portals should be looking at mobile opportunities in the near future.
